Mother’s Day is almost here. Did you buy flowers? Plan something special? Remember that Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be expensive to be fun…it needs to be personal and warm. If you think that expensive equals expensive and warm, I’d say that….yes…..you’ve drank the consumerism Kool-Aid.
This was too good to pass up. Here are some surprising Mother’s Day facts that you can share with the family (I recommend the ones about sex….follow up that conversation with religion and politics…..).
Enjoy!

What’s your favorite Mother’s Day memory?
Yes, it’s almost here and just like what I’ve been saying, I can’t wait to spend it with my mom this Sunday. Good thing I didn’t buy her an iPad. but I’m spending for flowers and a spa gift certificates.
I love watching my children treat my wife(their mother) so well. We both invested a lot of our time to have that kind of relationship with our children. The gift of time is far more important than any gift.
Nothing like fresh flowers, I find, however transient. Thanks for the reminder!
We’re going with homemade dishwashing detergent for a gift! Practical and not to pricey! I really do love my mom, great lady!
Innovative! AND something she does’t already have, I’m sure.
Nice infographic. We always take my wife to the Botanical Gardens as she love the flowers there and they do a nice brunch as well.
Sweet! The Botanical Gardens in Texarkana have been labeled “cow pasture.”
Nice infographic! I may or may not have this same infographic scheduled for a post on Saturday…beat me to the punch 😉
Winner!
Crap, I bought my mom a toaster! Hers ate a candle and toast comes out tasting like apple scented candle wax, but she won’t replace it.
You know all the romantic gifts.
Where would we be without mothers? My sister and I are taking mum to breakfast. For my mother, there’s nothing better than a meal she doesn’t have to prepare herself (her favorite motto is “stamp out home cooking”).
Ha! What a motto. We recently started doing that around the holidays: each family takes a meal so mom doesn’t have to cook. It’s turned out really fun because each family now tries to “one up” the others. I eat like a king for four days straight….
I don’t really think I have a particular favourite memory of Mother’ Day. Typically I send a card, make a phone call and when I was living in the UK I would bring my mum flowers. We kept it simple, and just enjoyed the day together as a family. Great Infographic.
I always feel cheap sending flowers, but we live so far away that it’s the best we can do now. The “bringing her flowers” experience is so, so much better.
80% of moms say “bring it on”? Not a statistic I wanted to know 🙂
Well, depends on the mom, right?
Another fact – Mother’s are amazing!
True!
Great infographic, Joe. I agree that way too much money is spent on these types of things. The total spent on me by hubby and the four kids this year was not much more than $10, and I’m so proud of all of them for giving with their hearts and not falling for the hype.
We all want out to dinner, taking Mom out this year. Quality time with her, for everyone, is what it’s all about. For all parents have done for us, I think it’s important to be thankful and show respect and love. That doesn’t have to be expensive, since it’s the time together that matters. Of course, if it requires some spending, it’s for a good cause 🙂
