This week we’re talking about annuities!
Wait, don’t fall asleep yet, the episode hasn’t even started. Actually an annuity is an oft-misunderstood beast, so OG and I do our best to set the record straight.
Who knows, you might even enjoy learning a little about them!
PK from DQYDJ.net talks innumeracy. He calls his site “high on statistics and low on personality”….sure, PK. That’s what we have in common. No personality…. I still don’t know what innumeracy is…I think he’s swearing at us.
The roundtable team tackles an article by Sam from Financial Samurai on streams of income for retirement. How is your retirement vision? Is it close to Sam’s?
On the Sites (here are the articles mentioned in the segments):
Carrie Smith redesigned her site working with a friend at Careful Cents.
Dr. Dean talks coffee and tea at the Millionaire Nurse Blog.
Len Penzo made a list of 20 things he’s willing to spend more money for
Show Notes:
<Open> We begin the “I don’t want to say I told you so, but….” routine we often use when pretending we’re not bragging.
<14:30> Fractional Cents with PK from DQYDJ.NET
<21:00> Roundtable discusses Financial Samurai’s Achieving Financial Freedom One Income Slice at a Time
<51:50> Top 5 Annuity Traits
The show continues, but as usual, if you’re still listening after the Top 5, you’re here for our general hilarity, not because you’re looking for more tips.
Thanks again to all of our contributers and listeners. I think you’re gonna love this show!
PK says
Ha! I’d never swear at you, Joe.
AverageJoe says
Of course you wouldn’t, but them’s some big words there, PK. Cool segment, actually. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in the next several weeks.

I might try to get around to this sometime. I’d like to hear what you have to say about annuities.
I’m not a fan of the podcasts because they require time to listen to and I don’t have anything handy to download them too. If I could download them and listen to them in the car then I’d be all over it. I NEED A SMARTPHONE OR an iPod!
AverageJoe says
I listen in my car, but more often I listen while running and working out. I find that a run is easier if I get involved in a conversation.
Matt @ RamblingFever Money says
Listening to PK each week is really just making me feel dumber. After hearing his analysis last week and especially this week, I will no longer post hypotheticals on my blog that have anything to do with numbers!
Great discussion on the Financial Samurai post at the roundtable. That post was ALL over the PF blogosphere last week.
Been meaning to tell you, I love your intro and outro music – really catchy tune!
Average Joe says
Ha! PK hates the intro tune, so we were talking about changing it. But I find myself humming “da-da-da-ta-ta-da, ta-da-da-da-dit-dit-di-di-ta-ta-da.” all the time now. It’s annoyingly catchy.
I’m glad you liked the FS segment. The whole group was pretty fired up after the taping. We were pretty sure we’d nailed it.
Well…that and the fact that Len didn’t have any bad Dr. Dean jokes this week! I still laugh about the Dr. Dean being a mechanic joke from a few weeks ago.
PK says
Haha, you don’t mean that. I promise you if you write it out it makes sense.
Well, maybe not the Kelly Criterion stuff, but certainly the odds stuff. It isn’t that bad!
